Migrant Cell:
1. When was the ‘Migrant Cell’ under the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs established?
2. Is there a representative body and office in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and other countries of the world? If yes, please furnish the addresses of those offices.
3. Please provide the nature of cases and details of successful cases handled by the Migrant Cell for the last 4 years.
MOU with GCC:
4. What are the ‘Several Institutional Arrangements in place’ (including Agreements) with Gulf Countries for assistance to Indian Citizens in the GCC Countries?
5. Please provide details of MoU’s signed in the field of Manpower Sourcing with the UAE and other GCC countries
6. Does the MOU’s protect the welfare of Indian migrants under the Labour Law and regulations of the host countries?
Reparation Fund:
7. What is the structure of the Reparation Fund functional under Indian Missions in the Gulf?
8. What forms of reparation benefits including material support are available to those in distress?
9. Please furnish the addresses of those offices and whom to contact in cases of distress?
Endnote:
10. Please provide reason that India is not prohibiting emigration to the countries which do not protect the emigrants/or/contract workers from discrimination, maltreatment and exploitation; according to the Emigration act, 1983 Miscellaneous 31 ( b) it may, possible by notification, prohibit emigration to that country for a period, not exceeding six months on each occasion, as may be specified in the notification.
If the information sought for is held by another Public /authority, or the subject matter of the information required is more closely connected with the functions of another public authority, this Application or such part of this application may be forwarded to that Public Authority as required under Section.6 (3) of the RTI Act.
